  • Launch of Teens For Testing pilot program at the Urban School of San Francisco, February 11, 2011
  • Conant v. Walters – A landmark decision protecting a physician’s right to free speech in discussing medical marijuana with their patients.

2011

  • May 2011 – Dr Conant delivered the lecture “How to Stop AIDS in America” at the World Congress of Dermatology in Seoul, South Korea.
  • April 19, 2011 – Optimal Management of HIV Disease: Clinical Conference XIX – Dr Conant presented: XMRV Pathogen or Contaminant
  • February 11, 2011 – Teens For Testing launches at The Urban School of San Francisco with 99% of the senior class getting tested for HIV.
  • February 3, 2011 – Wall Street Journal article about Oliver Hamilton and the Urban Program.

2009/2010

  • Sponsored and Co-hosted (with Project Inform) a community forum about the dangers of HIV/Hepatitis C co-infection.  The forum was titled “Could You Survive HIV Only to Die from Hepatitis C?”  The forum was held in March 2009.  Daniel Fierer, M.D. was the main speaker.  The forum was well attended and became a catalyst for some very important advocacy in our community.
  • In September and October we sponsored and held two skin cancer/melanoma screenings at local street fairs (Folsom and Castro Street Fairs, September).  We screened over 130 persons and found six possible melanomas.
  • Attended the 2009 LGBT Health Summit in Chicago
  • Launch of ConantFoundation.org
  • Awarded $600 Educational Internship Grant to Oliver Hamilton.
  • Received $25,267 in Unrestricted Contributions in 2009

2007/2008

  • Sponsored and Co-Hosted Community Forum on “Medical Marijuana Victory, Where Do We Go From Here” with the San Francisco Medical Society, The ACLU Drug Law Reform Project and the Marijuana Policy Project in March 2007. Moderated by Marcus A. Conant, MD, with Guest Speaker Donald Abrams, MD and Panel Discussions by Senator John Vasconcellos, Allen Hopper, Esq, Senior Attorney, ACLU, and Bruce Mirken, Director Of Communications for the Marijuana Policy Project
  • Sponsored Research and Development of “AIDS In America” lecture given by Dr. Marcus A. Conant at The lV Annual Optimal Management Conference in Florida in March 2007
  • Sponsored the Preservation of Video Tapes and Other Media that captured many of the Historical Events from throughout the 1980’s on the heartbreaking early days of the pandemic of AIDS into the American and Gay Culture as recorded by Allen White
  • Participated in Harvey Milk Birthday Event at the “Given” Gift Shop in the Castro at the location that was Harvey Milk’s Camera Store May 2007
  • Hired Dr. Howard Grossman as Medical Director of The Conant Foundation in the Summer of 2007
  • Provided On-Going Resources for HIV/AIDS Patient Assistance and Entitlement Programs 2007-2008
  • Participated at Northern California Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Street Fair Event in San Francisco in January 2008
  • Dr. Marcus A. Conant honored at Healing Waters 2007 Cale Siler Founders Award for Humanitarian Leadership in HIV/AIDS along with Milton Estes, MD and Stephen Follansbee, MD
  • Dr. Conant met with School Superintendent Sanchez with the San Francisco Board of Education to discuss the prospect of Introducing STD Education in School Grades 8 through 12
  • Provided cost of trip and participation to IAS Meeting in South Africa for Dr. Conant, Dr. Grossman and Joe Robinson in July 2008
  • Filed an Amicus Brief on behalf of a California Medicinal Marijuana Grower for care for Patients suffering with AIDS
  • Participated in Project Inform Founder’s Recognition Event in June 2008
  • Sponsored Internships totaling $2,500 to Rebecca Smith and Oliver Hamilton to work on updating Mailing List
  • Scott Dowie Scholarship in the amount of $10,000 awarded to Casey Smith to work on HIV/AIDS/STDS Advocacy Issues
  • Senate Health Committee Briefing in Sacramento, California on HIV/AIDS focusing on three seminal themes:
  1. Why did we not have a heterosexual epidemic in America during the first quarter century of this epidemic?
  2. Are we now beginning to see a heterosexual epidemic of HIV/AIDS in the second quarter century of this epidemic?
  3. Who is going to provide care for these patients in the next quarter century?
  • Continued Grant Program of more than $10,000 in Clinical Value to Patients qualifying for the Conant Foundation Grant Program for Sculptra for Correction of Facial Lipoatrophy in conjunction with the Patient Access Program through Sanofi-Aventis
  • Co-Sponsored The Rock Dogs Basket Ball Team to attend the International Gay Games in Washington D.C. October 2008
  • Hired Mr. Robert Ortega as Community Outreach and Advocate Representative for the foundation in November 2008
  • On-Going Resource and Assistance for Drug Rehabilitation to HIV Patients

2006/2007

  • Granted more than $40,000 in Clinical Value to Patients qualifying for the Conant Foundation Grant Program for Sculptra for Correction of Facial Lipoatrophy
  • Hosted Community Forum with Dr. Donald Abrams on the Use of Medical Marijuana in March 2006
  • Published Newsletter in Spring 2006 featuring three articles generated from previous Community Forums. The articles cover “Growing Older with HIV”, “What You Need To Know About Sculptra” and a Report Back From The 3rd International AIDS Society Meeting held in Rio, Brazil
  • Co-Sponsored with Dr. John Compagno, Medical Director of West Coast Pathology Labs, a PAP Smear Study on the detection of PCR for HPV, Chlamydia, GC, and HSV 1 & 2 in HIV Positive Patients
  • Co-Sponsored The Rock Dogs Basketball Team in the 2006 International Gay Games in Chicago, the Team won a gold medal
  • Relocated The Conant Foundation Administrative Offices from 74 Hartford Street to 470 Castro Street, Suite 202 in San Francisco
