Now Recruiting! Free Sculptra Treatment

Once again, thank you to all of you who have participated in our Sculptra Fundraising Program!  As a way of saying thank you for all of your support, we are now beginning the Conant Foundation Free Sculptra Treatment Program for those with facial lipodystrophy syndrome (FLS).

The Conant Foundation is sponsoring eight free treatments of Sculptra per month.  (These typically cost $400 per treatment.)  Patients who qualify for free Sculptra treatment will have their names placed into a lottery.  Those who are selected will be treated with Sculptra (1-6 times) over a period of 6 months until it is the judgment of the provider that adequate correction/restoration has been made.

HIV/Hepatitis C Co-Infection

smallglossThe Conant Foundation will be hosting an important forum on March 17th, 2009 (6:30-8:30pm ) in the Rainbow Room at the San Francisco Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Community Center (1800 Market Street at Octavia). This event will be moderated by Marcus A. Conant, M.D., and the panel will consist of Daniel Fierer, M.D. from Mt. Sinai in New York City, as well as Brad Hare, M.D. and Marion Peters, M.D. from UCSF.

Last month at the Sixteenth Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections in Montreal, Dr. Daniel Fierer presented some alarming findings on HIV/Hepatitis C co-infection as it relates to rapid liver fibrosis. Our forum will focus on these findings as well as the variables in treatment and new treatments that are coming down the research pipeline, followed by a question and answer session with our audience. We view HCV as a formidable foe, deserving of our community’s attention and response.

The Conant Foundation, along with our sponsors Black Coalition on AIDS and Project Inform, hope that you and/or your clients will be able to attend this important community forum.
